Sea Turtle

I can't believe it's been almost 3 years since I painted this one. I'm thinking of adding a turtle to my undersea painting that is in my banner above. Your are only seeing a small corner of it there. I hope you like it. I don't think I'm not putting the paint on thick enough. You can see canvas threads here. It's a 9x12 oil on stretched canvas.

You are way too critical of yourself. I do the same thing, never satisfied, always one more thing that we can do better next time! Paints too thin, paints too thick, etc. Love, love your sea turtle.
If you think 3 years is a long time , I just posted one that I did in 1984. Now thats going back some ..... BJ

Hello Christine! Thanks for viewing and following my blog. Your paintings are lovely. Years ago I visited the Barrier Reef - still in awe!

The way the turtle seems to just float off the canvas is brilliant. As for your critic that there is too little paint. It works, so why change it. You've got me getting my art pad out so keep it up. Well done.

Thank you everyone. You are very encouraging. I gave in to the inner critic. Sorry about that, won't let it happen again.....

I guess we all give in to our inner critic sometimes! As long as it doesn't stop us.
The turtle is beautiful! I always like trying to leave some area thin, some more impasto, for the contrast.
It's good to see your blog...I look forward to more.

Love this turtle! I like the monochromatic palette. Gives it a realistic underwater feel. Very nice!
